We are a young ethical fashion brand from Hamburg, Germany, founded to create fair, organic and vegan clothing with style, while offering reasonable prices and a fast and friendly service. We believe that fair trade and sustainable development are natural: respecting your skin with soft materials; respecting the people who make your clothes with good working conditions; and respecting the world that we live in by limiting our impact on the environment. We all can make a difference, even by choosing what to wear. And by designing fresh, modern and high quality clothing with attitude, we are trying to make this decision even easier.
Designed to last
Quality, durability and comfort are part of our DNA. Each fabric is chosen with the greatest attention and meets strict criteria, including softness. As a environmentally friendly clothing brand, 100% of the cotton used by us is organic cotton. As for our polyester, it is mainly recycled polyester from plastic bottles for the sake of the circular economy. Every Osuno product is designed and made to last for a long time, combining perfectly mastered finishes and contemporary cuts.
Our clothes are all pleasing to wear, soft to the touch and comfortable. You have a choice between a big variety of colors, ranging from traditional white to trendy seasonal tones, as well as creations with a vintage look or flecked colours. The entire range is produced using various environmentally-friendly dyeing techniques, which is sure to appeal to all your customers, even the most demanding.
Created with attitude
The name Osuno is put together from "O", the chemical symbol for Oxygen and "suno", the Esperanto word for sun. That represents our natural approach of doing things and our main goal to create sustainable products, which are produced as climate neutral as possible. Protecting the environment is as important to us then having a positive impact on society, by being part of a change to a more sustainable economy.
Osuno's company values are peace and respect. As a fair trade company that produces ethical fashion, we are not only living those values by the materials and the production standards we use to make our clothing, we are also trying to transport our message by our graphic designs. Osuno is working together with talented artist from all over the world that share theses values to make statements against war, violence and exploitation and promote the respectful and equal treatment of people and respect for our nature. We believe in working together as a community; the Osuno team, the fashion and graphic designers, the manufacturers and our customers; to change the world to the better. Even if we might have only a small impact, every step counts.
Made with respect
Osuno is based in Germany and our printing, embroidering and shipping center is located in the United Kingdom. Our textiles are made primarily in Asia (Bangladesh, China) and the production is certified by the biggest labels for sustainability (GOTS, OCS Blended, Oeko-Tex) and audited by the Fair Wear Foundation, which makes the production process 100% transparent. Osuno is convinced that manufacturing in Asia is a good thing if done properly. And properly means respecting the rights of the men and women that we employ. It means in addition to good pay and dignified working conditions, giving them the means to acquire new skills and to receive education and training.
We took the same care to select our materials. Our garments are made only from natural fibres from sustainable plantations. Organic cotton is not an option at Osuno, it’s a requirement. Organic cotton is a natural, GMO-free fibre that uses less water than standard cotton. In addition, its production does not involve the use of chemicals (no fertilisers or pesticides) and encourages rotation of crops to keep soil healthier, more fertile and maintain humidity. Waste from the cotton ginning process is also recycled for the animal feed industry. The entire production chain for our eco fashion benefits from the strictest environmental certifications and labels in the market:
Global Organic Textile Standard
GOTS, the Global Organic Textile Standard label is he strictest certification for textiles made from organic fibres. GOTS tracks the entire chain of production from farm to factory: from harvesting of the cotton, weaving of fibres, assembly of items, to the final product before printing, including even the export of our clothing! It certifies that our cotton is GMO-free and is grown without the use of chemicals and is processed and dyed without using any banned toxic substances. GOTS also ensures compliance with the labour standards of the International Labour Organisation throughout the chain of production.
Global Recycle Standard
We use recycled polyester as a complement (up to 15%) to organic cotton in some of our sweatshirts and hoodies. Those are certified by GRS , the Global Recycled Standard label certifies that the materials used are recycled: in the case of polyester, from plastic bottles, and for cotton, from cutting waste. GRS also guarantees compliance with social and environmental criteria such as treatment of waste water, the absence of certain toxic additives and respect for working conditions in our partner factories.
You can’t buy trust. It has to be earned. OEKO-TEX Standard 100 certifies the absence of harmful chemical substances in all our products thanks to the “Confidence in textile” label. An independent testing and certification system that ensures that all raw, semi-finished and finished textile products are processed in a way that prioritises:
- The precautionary principle, which prohibits certain potentially harmful substances even where they are not (yet) legally banned
- The absence of chemical substances that are harmful to health and the environment
- A restriction on the lead content of dyes
We are also proud to announce that our products are PETA certified. This means that we do not conduct or commission any animal tests on ingredients, formulations, or finished products and pledge never to do so. On top of this, our apparel is made from 100% vegan materials so you can be confident that no harm came to anyone during its creation.
